“Different shit is different” or why I’m not competing with BeachBody (or any other) programs

I just got back from my first fitness summit and I’m writing with the current clarity I acquired after chatting with Jon Goodman, the founder of the Personal Trainer Development Center and the Professional Trainer Society. I asked him, “How do I compete with the barrage of questions and interest new moms have in regards to BeachBody (or any other) programs for getting back in shape?” His response was what his friend David always says, “Different shit is different.” He told me to put out my own message, and those who connect with that message are the people I will want to train. Lightbulb moment. And so that’s the intention of this post–to put out my own message. If it makes you want to train with me, great! If not, my sister is a BeachBody coach ;).

If you’ve scanned my site, you know I’m a mom of 2, and before that, I was an avid runner. I did everything I could to lose the baby weight after my first pregnancy–all 52 lbs of it. And I did, losing that plus another 5 for a grand total of 57 lbs. But once I became a personal trainer and did more research on pregnant and postpartum bodies, I realized that even though I was lean, I wasn’t exactly the kind of fit I aspired to be. I peed myself during jumping jacks. I had lower back pain after every run. I was tired all the time. And I still didn’t have the “sculpted” look I was going for. So what’s the point in achieving my “ideal” weight when my fitness was less than ideal?

That’s why I created MamaLean Fitness–to help other moms like me prepare and recover from childbirth so they can be not only their ideal weight, but their ideal level of fitness.

Here’s my message: If you want to be lean and fit before, during, and after pregnancy, train with me. You deserve more than just a workout program; you deserve to be a fully functional, happy mama. You deserve to be MamaLean Fit.
