About 2 weeks after the birth of my second child, I was squeezing in my first core workout post-baby while my mom stopped by to see the kids. They both happened to be napping at the same time (a double rainbow, if you will) and so my mom joined in my workout, asking me about the exercises I chose. I casually mentioned that I first checked for diastisis recti. My mother, a nurse who had 3 children of her own, had no idea what diastisis recti was, apart from it being a Latin term! This had me wondering how many other women, even today with the Internet, are uninformed about proper postnatal healing. The “don’t drive or lift anything heavy for a while, then come in for a check-up after 6 weeks” prescription isn’t sufficient. Mothers need, and deserve, more. MamaLean Fitness was born from my desire to help women be healthy mothers who take care of themselves so they can take care of their families.
MamaLean Fitness focuses on educating and empowering women of all ages in all stages of motherhood: preparing to get pregnant, pregnant, new mommy, veteran mom. Not enough emphasis is placed on the physical requirements motherhood exacts from the female body. MamaLean Fitness is here to change that.
